One Frame

Silence. As Claudia adjusted the final pieces of her wedding attire, the room fell completely silent. This was the moment that made it real for everyone in the room. Finally, it was her wedding day.

I will have more photos of the gorgeous wedding from this past Saturday up soon. I’m so excited to share this beautiful Destin wedding with everyone!

The Kiss: Sigh-worthy

Image

Weddings are notorious for romance-novel worthy kisses. I happen to have seen quite a few that I’ve nearly done a girly sigh and smiled longingly at the couple. I’m lucky that I can restrain myself.

At weddings, engagement sessions, or romantic sessions, I love to capture the moment before a kiss. There is something so beautiful in that moment before lips meet. The entire mood softens, and it’s like this kiss is the first kiss again. A common misconception is that what makes a great photo is the kiss itself. I strongly disagree. Although, that’s not to say kissing photos aren’t fabulous in their own way.

So next time you are at a photoshoot, or if you are a bride and getting married, take that moment in and slow it down. That moment is special. Revel in it.

And now a few of my favorite almost kisses, romance-novel worthy kisses, and The Look.

Groomsmen: You can’t have a wedding without them.

I know. I know. I said last blog that I wouldn’t take so much time between blogs(or implied that). And now, three weeks later I’m back. I pinky swear I won’t let this happen again!

Boys. There’s so much to say, and yet so little. I am often the one told to go photograph the groomsmen at the weddings I’ve assisted.  Which is ironic because I have no experience whatsoever with talking to guys. I am used to girls; they care about how they look, and if they are stiff in pictures. Guys are so nonchalant about…well…everything. Nevertheless, I am the one getting the shot.

I’ve picked a few of my favorite groomsmen pictures to share with you today.

1. This was the very first wedding I ever shot. My employer, Jan Bus, asked me to go with the guys and try to get some shots. I was a little bit nervous because I was 17 and didn’t feel old enough to boss around 20 something year old guys. Luckily, they were all very sweet and a fun bunch to work with.

2. This was my first wedding as a main photographer. The guys were hilarious and the groom was really easy going about everything. It was cool because they didn’t mind going outside to take pictures instead of staying indoors where it was cooler.

3. My first wedding as the only photographer. It was truly amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever had that much fun before. These groomsmen were probably my favorite because they all were super serious for ten seconds for me to get this shot. Love that!

4. Same wedding 3.

Much love,

Aislinn
